Groundwater extraction is an excellent technique for the removal of contaminated groundwater. It is also used to assist with biological or chemical remediation. When nutrients or oxidants are injected into the soil, groundwater extraction helps spread these through the soil layers.
Groundwater extraction can be carried out with, for instance, deep well pumps (for deeper sources), a drainage system including a pump well or with a reciprocating pump.
